Being in Touch with Our Hands

This workshop is about getting more deeply in touch with our hands than ever before.  We can explore both old and new ways of working so we can find out our teaching habits and expand our repertoire in the use of our hands.  We will explore our hands and get to understand them and our relationship with them.  We will get to know the shape, the feel and the touch of our hands as well as the direction and energy in them.  Through this we can communicate the warmth, sensitivity and understanding of our direction in our non-doing touch, so that we can really enjoy the art of hands-on.

To build a trust in our connection between our hands and our ‘use’, we will also explore ‘opposition in direction’, finding ways of applying it in our ‘hands-on’ practice.  There are many ways of looking at oppositions and antagonistic action.  One that is really valuable for us is ‘connection and release’.  What do these mean and can one lead to the other and/or can they be one and the same thing?  This will involve a brief look at connective tissue and its role in our work but mainly exploring it in a practical way.
