In the spirit of transparency, we would like to also tell you a little bit about the Congress funds.

Please note that for legal and accounting reasons, we cannot share specific numbers. What we can do is show you the budget categories we needed to spend money in.

The Congress is solely financed by tickets, so almost the entire earnings come from registrations. Your add-on bookings, like booklet, boat tour, T-shirts and MensaCards did not help us a lot because we had to buy those ourselves.

Therefore, the more people register, the more money there was to spend.

As you can see below, there are a lot of expenses that had to be made, most of which are independent of the actual number of attendees. Add to this the effects of COVID pandemic and the many discounts we had offered from the very beginning (see above), and we were left with very little financial wiggle room.
