A few years after graduating Merran returned to Holland where she taught at the Utrecht Conservatory of Music, the Dutch String Quartet Academy and on Arie Jan Hoorweg’s teacher training course, becoming assistant director there.
In 2006 Merran moved to Argentina to open a STAT training course in Buenos Aires. As this was the first Alexander school in South America, Merran became the moderator and a general support for the schools that opened in Uruguay, Brazil, and Chile in the years following.
Merran is co-founder of the annual residential retreat ‘Outside the Known’, combining Alexander Technique, Non Violent Communication, and the teachings of J Krishnamurti with the intention of moving beyond conditioned, habitual patterns of thought, communication and behaviour.
