Jana Tift

A former member of the graduate acting faculty at Florida Atlantic University, Jana coaches actors, singers, dancers, and other performers throughout the USA and abroad, including the Lawrence University Conservatory, Arizona State University, New World School of the Arts, and Vanderbilt University.

With Meade Andrews, Jana co-authored Your Body Knows: A Movement Guide for Actors (Routledge, 2020), and she has led Alexander Technique workshops at the Southeastern Theatre Conference, the Freedom to Act Conference, and Bill Evans Somatic Conference.

Jana is a teaching member of Alexander Technique International, and a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. Her favourite moment, when teaching AT, is the look of awe and wonder on a performer’s face when they realize they can play, dance, or act without pushing or forcing. They are Free to Perform!
