Geordie has earned two post-graduate teacher certifications from the American Center for the Alexander Technique, NYC, The Art of Breathing with Jessica Wolf (2003) and The Carrington Way of Working with John Nicholls (2004). He also trained teachers for 3 years with Betsy Pollatin in her body of work, The Actor’s Secret (2016), which then inspired him to enroll in the 3 year professional training in Somatic Experiencing. His interest in the relationship between trauma and the body and voice also lead him to train in Psychodrama and Psychodramatic Bodywork.
In Los Angeles, Geordie taught at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Stella Adler Academy of Acting, as well as originating classes in the Alexander Technique into both of the curricula. He also taught Alexander to classical singers in the OperaWorks summer training program at Cal State Northridge. As an actor, he attended the LA City College Theatre Academy, and earned his BA in Acting from California State University at Fullerton. He has trained and performed with Shakespeare & Company, and has acted in roles in theatre and television.
In 2003 Geordie joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Drama, teaching Alexander and Linklater Voice Work in the BFA in Acting Program. Earning his Designation as a Linklater Voice Teacher in 2007, he travelled to Hamburg, Germany in the summer of 2008 to participate in an advanced teacher training with Kristin Linklater in Sound & Movement. He continued to work and train with Kristin Linklater in NYC, Europe and later at her world-renowned Voice Centre in Orkney, Scotland until her death in 2020, as well as continuing to train with senior Alexander teachers world-wide.
Geordie has presented workshops in Linklater voice work to Alexander teachers in the USA and in Europe. In North Carolina, he has presented workshops in the Alexander Technique to singers and musicians, and maintains a private practice teaching Linklater Voice and Alexander Technique to people from all walks of life.
