- UK

Duncan trained under Walter and Dilys Carrington, graduating from the Constructive Teaching Centre (CTC) in 2001.

He was invited to become Co-Director of Training at CTC in 2021. In addition to his role at CTC, Duncan has also taught on alexander teacher training courses in Madrid and NYC.

A highly experienced performer, director, and voice teacher, Duncan has worked across theatre, radio, and television. He trained extensively with Michael McCallion, author of The Voice Book, a seminal text on voice and the Alexander Technique. His own creative and performance background gives him a deep understanding of the unique challenges that actors, singers, and musicians face, making him particularly attuned to their needs.

Upon qualifying from CTC, Duncan began teaching Alexander Technique and voice at one of London’s leading theatre training schools, where he worked for fifteen years. His skill and success in the performing arts has led to many collaborations, including working as a director for New York cabaret legend Steve Ross, also producing two recordings: I Remember Him Well – The Songs of Alan J. Lerner and the award-winning album, Good Thing Going – The Songs of Stephen Sondheim.

Currently, he has an ongoing teaching relationship with orchestral musicians from The Orquesta Nacional de España (Spanish National Orchestra), bringing his expertise and sensitivity to professional instrumentalists seeking greater ease and expression in their playing.

Duncan was part of the CTC team at the Berlin Congress (2022) and is delighted to be coming to Dublin to further share his experience of the Carringtons’ unique teaching legacy.
