The craft of Voice Acting has its specific and unique challenges. Voice actors mostly work alone in a vocal booth, both in audition preparation and sometimes even in recording sessions. The entire performance is conveyed through the voice and is greatly enhanced when also embodied, which is where AT comes in. Good voice acting requires a free instrument, which includes the voice, body and the whole self in integration. Voice actors have the added stimuli of a microphone and sometimes a director, sound engineer and client all at the same time. AT gives the voice actor the perfect opportunity to pause and organise themselves before and during performance.
This workshop is for all conference attendees curious about voiceover. This 90-minute workshop is part lecture and part practical. We will explore both group and voluntary individual work on our feet, with provided voiceover copy.
