Ulli Pawlas studied Art at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg before training as a dance teacher at the Lola Rogge Schule, Hamburg.   In 1985 she opened the Studio Freiraum, giving courses in dance, body experience and dance therapy. 
This was followed by her training as a Gestalt therapist in 1987.  In 1994 she completed her training as an Alexander Technique teacher with Chris Stevens and Nadia Devan at GLAT (now ATVD). Between 2001 and 2012 Ulli worked with Alzheimer related dementia patients and elderly people,  teaching Alexander Technique, dance and singing.  In 2004 and 2008 a film, ‘FM Alexander-Technik bei Alzheimer-Demenz’,  about this work was produced by her colleague Mechthild Rickheit. In 2003 Ulli became a student of the Zen master and teacher of the archery path, KyuSei, with Kurt Österle (Zen master and Archery teacher).  In 2018 she completed her training as an archery instructor. Since 2005 Ulli has owned and run her own Alexander Technique training school, Alexander-Technik-Schule Hamburg, recognized by the ATVD. To continue her education and for international exchange she enjoys going  to AMMAS-Meetings. In 2022 she edited the book,  FM says: ‘Always have something to look forward to’, published by Mouritz.
