She was a finalist in both the Metropolitan Opera and Pavarotti Competitions and has professional credits in all genres from opera to cabaret. She taught vocal technique at New York University for 17 years. During her university tenure, she was also certified as an Alexander teacher by ATI. She trained in the Philadelphia school, and also studied with Barbara Kent, Marjorie Barstow, Mio Morales, Rika Cohen, Ann Rodiger, Caren Bayer and others. Kathryn teaches Voice + Alexander for classical and Broadway singers and actors in her in mid-town Manhattan studio. Since 2000, she has worked intensively with small groups of singers at her Voice and Alexander Academy at Lake Como in the Italian Alps during the last two weeks of June.

Kathryn Armour presented workshops at the Congresses in Limerick, Chicago and Berlin. She has taught voice and Alexander Technique at the Philadelphia School for AT, the Toronto (Susan Sinclair) Alexander Technique training program, and at the AT Training Centre in Ireland. She has presented workshops for the University of Wisconsin Medical School Voice Clinic, and in New York City for General Episcopal Seminary, the New School, and for many Freedom to Act Conferences. Kathryn is the Voice and Alexander Technique consultant to the Broadway award-winning Fiasco Theater Company. She coached their NYC productions of Sondheim’s Into the Woods (2015), and Merrily We Roll Along (2019), produced by Roundabout Theatre.
