John Hunter has been teaching Alexander Technique for 40 years.

After qualifying with Misha Magidov, he continued to learn from first-generation teachers, in particular Peggy Williams, Margaret Goldie and Erika Whittaker, and has written about his experiences learning from these teachers on his blog, upward-thought.com.

In his wide contact with many first-generation teachers, he was always encouraged to make his own discoveries; there are no fixed ways about being free.

John has been involved in the undergraduate and postgraduate training of teachers for many years and currently runs small, intensive residential masterclasses at his home in Hampshire.

John is a past Chair of STAT and the current Chair of the FMAT Charity (AT Friends). AT Friends has recently begun a long-term project to gather archive material about the first-generation of teachers, to whom we all owe such a great deal.

Alongside his Alexander work, John has been engaged in a long-term practical study of spiritual teachings.
