Doris Hochscheid

From 2004 – 2021 Doris was a teacher of Alexander technique at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she worked with many musicians.  Since 2004 she has also had her own private practice in Amsterdam. Together with Maaike Aarts she teaches an Alexander Technique summer course in France every year.

In order to deepen her understanding of our ‘inner world’, Doris also started training as a Taoist in 2017.  From the start, she noticed the fascinating similarities between Alexander Technique and the Taoist approach.  For instance, the concept of wu wei (non doing), greater awareness of the back, the connection of head-heart-belly (head-neck-back) and the awareness that energy can be directed upwards and outwards.
