Anne Battye
Anne Battye
Anne had her first Alexander lesson with Dr Wilfred Barlow in January 1960. She soon realised that learning and practising the Technique was essential for her to recover her life, so she transferred to Marjory Barlow’s training course in April 1961, qualifying in 1964.
She has been learning and engaging with Alexander work for the last 60 years and still finds it totally fascinating, and, of course, immeasurably helpful to her and all her students. She prefers to give private lessons, but also enjoys giving workshops and has taught the Technique in drama and music schools. She also worked in many disparate Alexander training courses from 1969 onwards, when she was Marjory Barlow’s assistant.
Her main interest is to maintain the integrity of the work in relation to ongoing discoveries and applications of his Technique, without losing sight of the genius of Alexander himself.
