The Art of Sharing the Heart of the Work

Art – to transcend technique and form

Sharing – generously to reveal your curiosity, experience, and humanity

Heart – to courageously and compassionately know yourself through the Work

We all teach Alexander Technique – the essential ‘it’ of the Work, and we all use different forms and paradigms through which we understand and teach the ‘it’.

Join this experiential sharing session designed to help separate and distinguish the ‘it’ – the essence of the Work – from the varied ways in which it is held and conveyed.

Learn to separate the Work from the teaching paradigms – the Content from the Form.

Freeing ourselves from habitual teaching Forms allows us to imagine more easily how we can collectively make the Work more accessible and well known in today’s world.  It allows us to offer the core principles of the Work through any Form, including teaching individuals and groups, through traditional chairwork and life activities, and through direct applications to real-life situations.  In addition, we can tailor our teaching to meet the needs and learning styles, as well as the lifestyles and socio-economic realities of today’s students, more easily.

The Alexander Alliance International Faculty has been actively researching how to create new effective teaching forms without losing the essence of the Work itself for over 40 years, furthering the lineage of Marjorie Barstow and her deep impact on how the Work can be presented in the world.

AAI offers Teacher Training Programs, Post Graduate Studies, and Personal/Professional Development Courses throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan. We focus on making the Work more accessible to the general public as well as to those who want to become Certified Alexander Technique Teachers.  Through the exploration of contemporary ways, we offer study and training opportunities – effectively freeing the Work from any specific teaching forms so that it can organically grow to meet the realities of today’s world.

The Workshop will be led by the team of the Alexander Alliance International
