Primary Control Relationships

The primary control is not a switch, a reflex or anything that you can physically point at. It is a set of relationships between things that change. FM wrote to Frank Jones that ‘There really isn’t a primary control as such. It is a something in the sphere of relativity’.
The primary control concept implies that regardless of what else is going on, e.g., during movement, thought, or emoting, you can work with the idea of consistency in relationships such that an absence of compression results; subjectively lighter and easier, with an expansive suite of antagonistic pulls.
How do we get for ourselves that ‘something in the sphere of relativity’? This workshop looks at how common Alexander Technique procedures can be linked in such a way as to inform each other to a greater extent. This should result in clearer, more energised primary control relationships. It should also provide a great way of working on yourself any time, and deepen your teaching.

This is a practical workshop.
