INTRODUCTION
Legs are often poorly treated; they are crossed, wrapped around chair legs and even sat on. Often forgotten because they are remote, under a table or desk and appear to be irrelevant. The reflex bending and walking patterns are frequently disturbed in modern life. Legs are needed, as an integral part of our whole self, to keep us upright, balanced and mobile. They should not be ignored.
WORKSHOP PLAN
Alexander Inhibition and Direction will always be priority.
We will look at relevant anatomy and physiology, together with practically locating the leg joints – hips, knees and ankles. Moving into using all these joints to bend to reach the floor, paying particular attention to the direction of the knees – forwards and apart. Hands on the back of a chair will be demonstrated and practised as a progression into bending in a complex activity. All contributions and questions will be encouraged and welcomed.
