Flow and Inhibition with the Collaborating8

Grounded in inhibition, flow offers dynamic, moment-to-moment ways of embodying and teaching the fluid, ever shifting nature of our Alexander work. In our workshop you will experience 8 different complementary explorations on this theme through our lively, growth-producing process of collaboration. May it inspire your own collaboration with colleagues.

About the Collaborating8

The Collaborating8 have been meeting once a month for 3 years on Zoom to exchange ideas and experiential work. We all trained at the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) and had many combined years training teachers there. ACAT, founded on a collegial model of teaching, ran a training course for 54 years in New York City where we trained over 300 teachers.

After ACAT closed its training course, we were inspired to get together to honor and illuminate ACAT’s legacy. Our group process has led us to return to our roots, exploring recurring themes from our present day understanding and interests. Collaboration is central to our process. Our approach has been rich and lively with an emphasis on honoring our differences and learning from them.
