Our Evolving BodyStory: an experiential collaboration with Meg Jolley and Frances Marsden

Explanation:
We explore how early reflexes feed into full-body coordination, through the lenses of Developmental Movement Patterning and the DART Procedures.

Meg will lead us into a ‘sensory tune-up’ to clarify pathways of awareness, highlighting how these early movement reflexes trigger sensori-motor responses. From conception to crawling, our bodies develop the sensori-motor coordination to survive, and later to thrive. Exploring the evolution of early movement patterns by way of AT-informed DART Procedures offers an embodied experience of Developmental Movement Patterning.

In the second half of the workshop, Frances will guide participants to deepen their understanding and experience of the Dart Procedures as they explore spiral movements on the floor and in a chair. Participants will work individually and in pairs while Frances and Meg give ‘Hands On’ guidance. Awareness, Inhibition and Direction will be the key to this exploration.
