Manner of Reaction As Embodied Mind 2 – Abstract

In this second workshop, we will focus on the final two stages of working with Stanley Greenspan’s model of mind, where emotional ideas can be created and elaborated using constructive conscious control in an age-appropriate way across the lifespan. The workshop will draw on ideas from Alexander’s writings, particularly CCCI, as well as participants’ own experience. Good use will be found to exist in the experience of psycho-physical of co-ordinating ourselves in relation with others. During which the creation and elaboration of emotional ideas is essential in being able to think logically, abstractly and flexibly across our full range of relationships throughout our lives.

Constructive conscious control, relying as it does on Alexander’s technique of inhibition and direction, will be found to be an ongoing way of closing out those habits of subconscious guidance and control, that we have brought with us from the past, in favour of those we have created and reasoned for the future. In Alexander’s terms we learn to know what we need.

While it would be helpful to have attended the first workshop in this series it is not necessary.
