- The Netherlands
During their partnership of 35 years, Paul and Tessa have always run busy private practices and given group workshops together throughout Europe, USA and Scandinavia. They both come from a background in the Theatre and Dance and have travelled extensively, taught and performed in many different countries including a performance of their AT and Theatre work at the Lugano Congress in 2008.
In addition, they have taught many years in major drama schools in London (RADA, Drama Studio, East15) developing, through the principles of the Alexander work, ‘movement games’ that provide the actor, dancer and AT teacher with more self-confidence and ease.
Tessa graduated from the University of Cape Town (BA; Diploma in Speech & Drama) and Sigurd Leeder School of Modern Dance (Switzerland). She directed for The Royal Court, at Almost Free and Vanbrugh Theatres (London) and Willliams Theatre (USA). As well as their theatre work, both have studied intensively Tai Chi, Eurythmy, Bother Movement and Modern Dance.
Paul graduated from the Theatre School in Amsterdam, Bejart’s Mudra School (Brussels), Merce Cunninghams’ Studio in New York. He formed his own Dance Drama company in New York before settling in London in 1978.
During the Congress Paul and Tessa might again perform briefly some of their AT/Theatre work in an artistic context at the end of their workshops.
