The Future of AT: ‘Alexander for All?’
For decades, and in countless professional meetings and conferences, AT teachers have discussed amongst themselves: ‘HOW can the Alexander principles be better known? WHAT is the ‘Future of AT’?’ However, the discussion we need to have first is: ‘WHO do we want to know about the Alexander principles?’
The Poise Project was launched in 2016 to move our professional discussions about ‘How’ and ‘What’ forward into action, and to address this question of ‘Who’ we want to have access to these life-enhancing Alexander principles.
In this interactive gathering in Dublin, Nina Reed from the United States, Erica Donnison from the United Kingdom, and other team members from around the globe, will lead you in an enlivening dive into ‘Who’ we want the Alexander principles to reach, ‘How’ we can make that happen, and ‘What’ the Future of AT is if we have a global and inclusive vision.
The Poise Project has many innovative plans to share with you that address the following goals:
• How can we bring AT principles to people living in remote areas of high-income countries?
• How can we bring AT principles to people living in low-income countries?
• Can AT professionals train other professionals and locals to bring some aspects of the AT principles to these places?
• Can peer-to-peer delivery work in some communities?
• What ways can we fund and pay for AT programming and create sustainable jobs?
• How can we form AT-delivery partnerships in culturally and ethnically diverse communities?
We invite you to join our team in a ‘brain tank’ workshop to drop in your solutions and ideas, as well.
The Poise Project’s decade of experience in embodied action has made it clear that there are nothing but opportunities for the AT principles globally, in 2025 and beyond.
