Rethinking Our Thinking

Exploring The “Head/Neck/Back Relationship”.

As Alexander Technique teachers, we have many varied opinions on how we define our terms, such as “primary control,” “directing,” and “use of the self.” This workshop will explore the phrase, “Neck back, head forward and up, torso lengthening and widening.” I will discuss how I have changed this to more accurately reflect our evolution and anatomical design, and how that has clarified my thinking and improved my use and hands-on skill. Group activities will give participants an opportunity to explore this rethinking process. If possible, bring a mat to lie on the floor.
